Built For Performance.
Injury doesn’t just stop you - it changes how you move. Power drops, range tightens, and you start working around it without even realizing. Most athletes wait too long and end up dealing with something bigger than it needed to be. You don’t have to.
Sports physiotherapy helps you step in early, fix what’s actually breaking down, and get back to training with confidence.
What is Sports Physiotherapy?
Sports physiotherapy is a specialized area of care focused on injury management, performance, and return-to-sport readiness. It looks at how your body moves under load (during training, competition, and recovery) and identifies where breakdowns occur.
Certified sports physiotherapists complete advanced training through Sport Physiotherapy Canada (SPC), with expertise in sports medicine, injury management, concussion care, athletic taping, protective equipment, emergency sideline care, and return-to-play decision making.
Great North Physiotherapy is home to one of the few certified sports physiotherapists in the Niagara Region. Your care is led by a physiotherapist with a Master’s in Sports Medicine, bringing an advanced understanding of how the body performs, recovers, and adapts under load.
We assess how your injury developed and how your body is compensating, and we build a structured plan to restore strength, improve performance, and reduce the risk of reinjury.
Sports Injuries We Treat
- Acute injuries (sprains, strains, muscle tears)
- Overuse injuries from training load or volume
- Running-related injuries
- Shoulder, knee, and hip pain during sport
- Return-to-sport after injury or time off
- Performance limitations (strength, mobility, mechanics)
If something feels off, it usually is. Let’s fix it before it becomes something bigger.
How We Approach Sports Physiotherapy
Every session is one-on-one and tailored to your sport, training, and goals. We focus on:
- Movement under load and sport-specific mechanics
- Strength, power, and control
- Load management and progression
- Identifying breakdowns that led to injury
Our goal is to get you back performing with confidence.
Treatment That Matches Your Training
Your plan is built around more than just treatment; it’s designed to prepare you for the demands of your sport.
With access to a high-performance training environment at House of Greatness, you'll see the true power when rehab and performance unite. When appropriate, we collaborate with performance coaches to safely progress your training, rebuild strength, and restore capacity under real conditions.
Most clinics stop at rehab. Here, you can transition directly into performance training, so there’s no gap between being “pain-free” and actually being ready to compete.
We don’t just get you cleared - we get you ready.
Return to Sport, Done Properly
Returning to sport isn’t just about being pain-free. That’s where a lot of people go wrong and end up right back where they started.
We guide you through a structured progression that rebuilds strength, restores confidence, and prepares your body for the demands of your sport. This level of care is designed to reduce setbacks and help you return stronger, more efficient, and better prepared than before.
Your First Visit
Your first session focuses on understanding your injury, training, and goals. During your visit, we will:
- Review your history and symptoms
- Assess movement, strength, and mechanics
- Identify contributing patterns
- Begin treatment where appropriate
- Build a personalized plan
- Provide exercises to support your progress
You’ll leave your first session with clarity on what’s going on and exactly what to do next.
