Alida is a passionate physiotherapist with a strong background in sports and high-performance athletics. She earned her Master's degree in Physiotherapy from Brunel University (London, UK), after completing her Bachelor's degree with an Honours Specialization in Kinesiology at Western University, where she graduated on the Dean's Honour List.
During her time at Western, Alida worked as a student athletic trainer with Varsity Sports, supporting the baseball team while also coaching flag football and taking on leadership and mentorship roles within the kinesiology community. A competitive gymnast for 12 years, she trained to Level 10 and represented Team Ontario, gaining firsthand insight into the physical and mental demands of elite sport. Even after retiring from competition, she has stayed closely connected to gymnastics through coaching and occasional training sessions (often humbly reminded of the sport's enduring challenges).
Across her clinical training in both Ontario and the UK, Alida has gained broad experience in sports musculoskeletal rehabilitation, private practice, neurology, pediatrics, and acute care. She is skilled in musculoskeletal assessment, exercise prescription, functional movement analysis, gait retraining, manual therapy, soft tissue techniques, and therapeutic modalities, including blood flow restriction training (BFR), electrical stimulation, and ultrasound. Her advanced training includes:
- Concussion Prevention, Detection and Management (Université Laval)
- Athletic Taping
Alida has worked with athletes across multiple sports—including hockey, rugby, gymnastics, and varsity programs—in both clinic and sideline settings. Notable experiences include a placement at Isokinetic London (a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence) and serving as a hockey athletic trainer with the Burlington Eagles Hockey Club, where she supported rehabilitation, injury prevention, and return-to-play programs.
Alida’s treatment approach blends hands-on manual therapy, targeted exercise rehabilitation, movement education, and collaborative goal-setting. She is dedicated to helping her community move with confidence, recover fully, and return to the activities that matter most to them.
Outside the clinic, Alida can usually be found at the gym, hiking, travelling, coaching gymnastics, enjoying live music, or cheering enthusiastically at sporting events. Movement, in every form, remains a central part of her life.
